What notes are for
The difference between a note and an essay here is one of weight, not of care.
A placeholder, so the notes section works before there is anything real in it.
Replace or delete it once the first proper note is written. The file is
content/notes/11-09-2026-what-notes-are-for.md.
A note is something worth keeping at a permanent address under my own name, but not worth structuring with sections and citations. A reaction to a figure the day it is released. A clarification of something I got asked twice. A pointer to a document more people should read.
The difference from an essay is one of weight, not of care. If a note grows past about a
thousand words, acquires a table, or starts needing footnotes, it becomes an essay and
moves to content/essays/ — and that move happens before it is ever published, because
once a URL exists it does not get to change.
